Southend United and Doncaster Rovers shared a goalless draw in the first leg of their League 1 Play-Off semi-final.

In a game of few clear cut chances, there was little to choose between the two sides - as to be expected - and the only sour point for Rovers came with three minutes remaining when striker Paul Heffernan was dismissed for an adjudged headbutt on Charlie Mulgrew and he will now miss the second leg at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The game at Roots Hall was the first match in this season's play-off competitions and the two sides will now meet again on 16th May to settle the tie.
