Coca-Cola Football League

The Coca-Cola Football League Manager of the Month awards for April have been announced and West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray, Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood  and Milton Keynes Dons manager Paul Ince were celebrating this afternoon after picking up the accolades for the Coca-Cola Championship, Coca-Cola League 1 and Coca-Cola League 2 respectively.

COCA-COLA CHAMPIONSHIP

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray

Mowbray's side were in fantastic form at the end of the season picking up four wins and three draws in their final seven league games. The Baggies remained undefeated in the league during April, and recorded excellent away wins over Blackpool, Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers and local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers. 15 points from a possible 21 during the period ensured the West Midlands outfit lifted the Coca-Cola Championship title.

Also short-listed for the April award were Neil Warnock of Crystal Palace, Kevin Blackwell of Sheffield United and Stoke City's Tony Pulis.

Chris Kamara, chairman of the Coca-Cola Manager of the Month Awards panel, said: "West Bromwich Albion had the added pressure of playing catch-up in the final weeks of the season due to their fantastic run in The FA Cup. But once again they proved their undoubted quality by remaining unbeaten during April. Their excellent season culminated in the Baggies deservedly clinching the Coca-Cola Championship title on the final day of the season at Queens Park Rangers."

COCA-COLA LEAGUE 1

Colin Calderwood

Nottingham Forest were the form side in League 1 at the business end of the season securing six wins in seven league games. Calderwood's side started the month with a terrific away win over promotion rivals Carlisle United, going on to pick up a total of 19 points from a possible 21. Forest's heroics on the final day of the season at home to Yeovil Town ensured the East Midland's side were automatically promoted from Coca-Cola League 1.

Also short-listed for the April award were Kevin Bond of Bournemouth, Gary McAllister of Leeds United and Huddersfield Town's caretaker manager Gerry Murphy.

On the decision Chris Kamara said: "It has been a remarkable season for Colin Calderwood at Nottingham Forest. He endured a difficult period during the middle of the season when results weren't going his way but he has shown real strength of character to ensure his side won six of their remaining seven games. Despite not being in the automatic promotion places going in to the final weekend of the season their tremendous win over Yeovil Town coupled with Doncaster's defeat at Cheltenham Town, was enough to see Forest clinch second place in Coca-Cola League 1."

COCA-COLA LEAGUE 2

Paul Ince

Ince's side were in top form during April remaining undefeated in their final seven league games of the season. Wins over Lincoln City, Wrexham, Bradford City and Play Off contenders Stockport County helped the Dons to a total of 15 points from a possible 21. This superb unbeaten run culminated in Ince's men ending the season as champions of Coca-Cola League 2.

Also short-listed for the April award were Keith Hill of Rochdale, Graham Turner of Hereford United and Stockport County's Jim Gannon.

Chris Kamara said: "Paul Ince has enjoyed a fantastic season at MK Dons. They have been the form side for much of the season in League 2 and entered the final few weeks of the campaign as firm favourites to land the title. Their undefeated month saw them fend off the challenge of nearest rivals Peterborough United and lift the League 2 crown last weekend."
