Gary Johnson & Phil Brown

A new City will join the Premiership on Saturday evening. But, at the end an amazingly unpredictable Championship season, will it be Hull or Bristol whose name enters the top flight by winning the Play-Off Final at Wembley?

It's a tough question, too tough in fact reckons Sky TV analyst and former West Brom, Sunderland and Wolves striker Don Goodman, who will be summarising during the broadcast of the game (transmission starts 2pm, Sky Sports 1).

Goodman says: "Predict the winners? I wouldn't have a clue - you may as well toss a coin. For starters, both teams are at Wembley against all the pre-season predictions - no one, apart from maybe their own supporters, thought either side would finish in the top six, let alone reach the Play-Off Final.

"That sums up the sort of season it's been in the Championship, the most unpredictable I've ever known. But full credit to both clubs, especially after the disappointment of missing out on automatic promotion after both gave themselves a great chance.

"More often than not in that situation teams lose in the Play-Off semis, but both teams came through strongly and I think you have to pay homage to the two managers, Gary Johnson (Bristol City) and Phil Brown (Hull), who have got their teams to the brink of the Premiership on far lower resources than a lot of other clubs have at their disposal.

"When it comes to the Final the one thing I will predict is that it will be an open, entertaining game because both teams like to play. Bristol City always look to get the ball down and pass it, Hull are strong and like to win the battle first and then get into their passing game, but I think we'll see some quality football throughout the game.

"The fact that both sides have got solid and settled back fours plus quality goalkeepers might make breaking down defences difficult, but there are going to be some top strikers on show and I reckon we'll see goals.

"Hull have got the more potent strike force, with the evergreen Dean Windass a born goalscorer and alongside him Fraizer Campbell, who's been a great loan signing from Manchester United, and Caleb Folan. The three of them have different attributes and when you put them together, that's a really dangerous combination.

"Bristol City tend to share their goals around and don't score as many as Hull, but in Dele Adebola they've got a strong running, unselfish centre forward who can give any defence a hard time and in Lee Trundle an exciting striker who has some clever tricks and comes up with some wonder goals - for instance his sublime extra-time strike in the second leg of the Play-Off semi-final against Crystal Palace.

"So there will be some fascinating contests at both ends of the pitch and I'm sure it's going to be a great game. I think it will be close - but don't ask me to predict a winner!"
